More Americans are heading South — to Texas, in particular. The horizontal drilling and fracking boom has helped to double oil production in Texas in the last three years. The state has added 300,000 jobs in the past year alone.
Texas cities dominate a recent list by Forbes.com of areas seeing some of the biggest growth in new residents. More residents are also flocking to Florida.
According to Forbes.com, here are the metro areas getting the highest number of new residents:
1. Dallas-Fort Worth, Texas
2. Miami-Fort Lauderdale-Pompano Beach, Fla.
3. Austin, Texas
4. Tampa-St. Petersburg, Fla.
5. Houston
6. Washington, D.C.
7. Denver
8. San Antonio, Texas
